This Saturday, September 26, will be Peyton's second birthday. We have been preparing a video of this last year and some of the things we have done and things she has learned to do. It is amazing how much she has changed since her last birthday, first with crawling instead of scooting, then walking and all of the words she has learned. Also her personality really shining through more and more and her ability to remember details. I am trying not to get caught up in what other kids do and at what age. I think that she is incredibly smart, just as every mom thinks of their child. Here are some of the things she has mastered or is currently working on:
She can:
Spell her name and recognize all of the letters in her name, even when in other words
Count from 1 to 10 (when she wants to)
Feed herself well with a spoon or fork, even knowing when she has some on the corner of her lips
Writes an "M" and "D"
Knows most shapes (circle, triangle, square, oval, diamond, heart, crescent)
Knows all major colors
Can sometimes spell "mommy" and "daddy"
And most importantly, recognizes the Clemson paw and says, "Go Tigers" when she sees it!
She loves to color and draw with crayons, markers, colored pencils, and paint of course. She loves to play with her babies, pushing them around in the stroller, or making them do all the things she does. She also loves play-dough, blocks, and to dance. She is definitely an outdoor girl, although she knows when she gets dirty! (my fault for that.)
We are currently in the beginning stages of potty training. She will sit on the potty with or without her diaper on, but she has yet to do anything in there. She knows when she goes in her diaper, but she isn't quite ready to do it in the potty so we will be patient!
We will also be transitioning her into a "big-girl" toddler bed once her birthday comes. She does well going to bed at night and staying asleep all night, so we will see and pray that this continues once she has the freedom to get up. And she can open her bedroom door already so if she gets up and wants out, she will be out!
I will write another blog once her birthday comes and of course, post pictures!
