Wow- it has been a long time again since I have blogged! What seems to be such an easy and helpful thing to do turns out to be last on my priority list. A lot has been going on since I last blogged. Here are the highlights-
1. I finally found a job working at a childcare facility. Coincidentally, it is the one that I had decided to send Peyton to once I started working. I am working in the infant room (babies 6 weeks to 12 months.) After the first day, I think I realized what having sextuplets would be like. there are 6 babies in there, though they range from 3 months to 9 months. They are all different, some needing more attention than others and some being more pleasant than others. But I think it will work out and I am so glad to have Peyton back in daycare that all I have to do is think of her and it makes me okay. This is the best thing for her. She has already started eating more foods after only 3 days there! Supposedly she ate cheese pizza and sloppy joes, although I still don't believe the sloppy joes one.
2. We have been travelling in March, once to Hartsville, once to Lexington, NC to see the Cash's, and next weekend we are going to Gatlinburg for our 6 year anniversary! Boy how time flies! While we are there, we are going to take Peyton to the Ripley's Aquarium, which I have heard is good. Maybe one day we will make it to the Georgia Aquarium since it is the largest in the US and we only lived 20 miles from it before!
3. I have been to 4 consignment sales in the month of March. I feel like I have gotten some really good deals. I would say without naming each thing that I have probably gotten 15 pairs of shorts, 20 tops, 7 pairs of capris, 10-15 dresses (including a Strasburg Children's dress and matching dress coat for Easter,) 1 turtle sandbox with cover, 4 other toys, 1 book, 5 hats, and a purse for Peyton for all under $100. She is pretty much outfitted for the spring/summer and even towards fall with some items being 24 months and 2T. I am definitely hooked on consignment shopping.
4. Thanks to my frugal friend Amanda, I have also become attached to the challenge of coupon shopping. I have spent many hours searching internet coupons, store ads, and newspaper coupons to get some great deals on household items and groceries. Some of my favorite finds:
2 tubes of Colgate toothpaste- free
Garnier shampoo and conditioner- 1 bottle each for .99
Gerber fruit snacks- 4 boxes for $1.50 total
Gerber kids plates- set of 3 for $1
Crest toothpaste for .75
Pillsbury pizza crust for $.80
Those are just a few. Today I went to Bloom for triple coupon day and saved over $34 on my products. (I only bought the things I had a coupon for.) This habit can be fun but it can also be very stressful. Once I forgot to use a .30 coupon for Joy dish detergent and I thought I was going to be sick when I got home. Recently I forgot to use my $1.50 of kids yogurt (I had 2 of them) so I think I am taking it back. Is that wrong!?!?
5. Finally, I really hope to blog more often like I used to. Especially since I haven't even talked about Dancing with the Stars yet. Or how it isn't fair that the stinkin basketball tournaments have to take place during the day when some people who are home and don't care to watch it miss the Young and the Restless. Oh and by the way, I don't like the new Facebook either.
