I've been thinking

I've been thinking for the last 2 weeks that I had nothing fun or interesting to blog about, but I was in a funk and couldn't see that blogging might actually help me get out of it. So here goes.

Top 5 Things I learned since my last post:
1. I really do think Peyton is a fast learner. It impresses me that she can already identify her hands, legs, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, belly and belly button, and feet. And she says new things all the time (or at least attempts.) Examples are cheese, let's go, and please.
2. I already knew this, but job searching in a down economy is incredibly difficult and frustrating and makes you question your worth and skills. In the end, job or no job, I know that whatever I end up doing, I will be good at it and I will like it and I will prove myself to anyone who will give me a chance.
3. Cold weather stinks when it means you are stuck inside. I feel so bad for Peyton being stuck in this apartment. This morning as soon as I dressed her, she brought me her shoe and her coat because she wanted to go somewhere. But hopefully we are joining the YMCA this weekend and she and I can get out during the day to swim or walk or something!
4. As much as I enjoy candles and camp fires, I think fire is a devastating and destructive natural occurrence and my home catching on fire is one of my biggest fears. I am a very sentimental person and I cannot imagine losing all of the things that mean so much to me. But more so, after hearing what has happened to my cousin in Indiana, I cannot imagine losing my child or anyone else in a fire. The panic they must have felt overwhelms me.
5. It is difficult to go to a much tighter budget than you are used to. The little things you take for granted when you are able to spend seem quite big when you aren't able to do them. As much as I enjoy shopping, and as bored as I am, it makes me even more stuck to not be able to get out of the house for that. With all that said, we are lucky to be able to pay our bills and have food on our table. Even if it is hot dogs instead of steak skewers.
